What Are Spiritual Gifts?
Spiritual gifts are special abilities given to believers by the Holy Spirit, intended to build up the body of Christ and serve others in unique ways. For the purposes of this podcast episode and blog post, we are focused on the 7 Motivational Gifts in Romans 12:6-7: Prophecy, Serving, Teaching, Exhorting, Giving, Leading, and Mercy.
Your Divinely Designed Personality
God has uniquely equipped each of us with gifts, talents, and personality traits that make up our divine design. He created you very specifically–for a unique purpose and to serve the body of Christ in a very unique way. The DISC Personality Profile: Your Unique Traits
In this episode, I am introducing you to the DISC personality profile—a personality assessment that helps you understand your unique blend of four different temperaments: Dominance (D), Influence (I), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C).
Understanding your DISC personality helps reveal how you interact with others, handle challenges, and express your spiritual gifts. For instance, a person with a “D” (Dominance) personality might express the gift of prophecy boldly, while someone with an “S” (Steadiness) personality might show the gift of mercy through compassion and support.
The Divine Connection Between Personality and Spiritual Gifts
While each of us is unique, there’s a clear connection between our personality traits and how we live out our spiritual gifts. Let’s take a look at how the two work together:
- Prophecy is often associated with “D” personalities who are direct and bold.
- Teaching may align with “C” personalities who love details and precision. (Umm…Hello 👋–that’s me!)
- Encouragement connects with “I” personalities who thrive on inspiring others.
- Mercy aligns with “S” personalities who are compassionate and empathetic.
By recognizing this connection, you can better understand how God designed you to use your gifts to serve others, whether in your career, ministry, or daily life.
