What Happens When God Says Move?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOD SAYS, “MOVE!”

If the title of this blog post rings a bell, you may recall it from my welcome message. More likely, you may be a familiar with the song Rattle.

Just ask the stone that was rolled
At the tomb in the garden
What happens when God says to move (you gotta move)

Bethel Music. “Rattle.” Revival’s in the Air, Bethel Music, 2020.

Y’all! Just typing those lyrics brings tears to my eyes!

When God says “move,” you may not audibly hear His voice, but you know He is telling you something.

I was in deep burnout, and God was using it to move me in a new direction.

The creation of Teacher Revival is just one tiny step in obedience to what God is calling me to do.

Steps in Obedience

It started here. Teacher Revival was a way for me to connect and support teachers who are in burnout find their peace in Jesus, but inside I knew God was asking me to do more.

While I haven’t been able to do all that I planned for Teacher Revival, I do have plans to continue this site and support not only teachers but an even broader audience.

The tagline for Teacher Revival is “From burnout to blessed.” As soon as these words came to mind, I knew it was part of the plan. The Holy Spirit is so creative!

I knew there was more. I knew the dreams that God had placed on my heart.

Then my mom went into septic shock…

A Family Emergency

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOD SAYS, “MOVE!”

Just as I had launched a Bible study group for Teacher Revival, I was stopped dead in my tracks by a family emergency that put my mom on a ventilator, into multiple organ failure, and sent my family to our knees.

That testimony is for another day, but believe me, it is a God-is-so-good-and-healing-is-REAL kind of testimony. My mom has been delivered from so much. Prayers were answered and she is a living MIRACLE! (Thank you to everyone for your prayers!)

But…2023 was a TOUGH year. I didn’t accomplish much of what I had planned. But we know this was all part of HIS plan. He will use every bit of your pain, every bit of your burnout, every bit of your experience for His Glory!

Holy-Spirit Led Learning

I started searching and praying for answers. I thought I had found my calling. Was I wrong? Can your calling change?

I started learning as much as I could about how to discern your calling. I starting digging into personality tests (I’ve always geeked out about these!), spiritual gift assessments, Bible studies, sermons, books–everything I could get my hands on. I even got a certification from the Christian Coaching Institute!

As a Certified DiSC and Spiritual Gifts Facilitator, I have a deep understanding of the DiSC personality profiles, Biblical spiritual gifts, and how they work together to create your divine design.

I want to help other Christian women understand what I have learned about God’s divine design (how he made you–personality, gifts, strengths), your purposeful passion (the dreams he’s placed on your heart), your life experiences (purposeful lessons and seasons), and how He uses EVERYTHING to give you a unique calling. (Want to learn more? Join me for a FREE workshop!)

And, by the way, I learned you can have multiple callings, some will say multi-faceted callings. And a calling isn’t just for those called into ministry. EVERYONE HAS A CALLING!

For me, my calling didn’t change (teaching), but my calling assignment has!

New Opportunities

While 2023 was challenging, I know it also brought some new, Holy-Spirit led opportunities to my door.

I started collaborating more with other Christian Educators, like Teach4theHeart. Through that collaboration, I was invited to speak for the first time on Biblical topics, not just my usual edtech presentations. Many of you may have seen me or some other other awesome speakers at the Rise Up Summit in October.

That door opened another. I was also invited to submit an article for the Christian Educators Association magazine, Teachers of Vision. (At the time of writing this, I’m not sure if it will get published, but I was honored to be given the opportunity and practice using my skills for the Kingdom!)

I’m praying that God will send more opportunities for me to use my gifts for His glory in 2024.

If you are so inclined, I would love for you to pray over this new mission that God has given me. I know there is more in store. I need to be bold and swiftly obedient!

And if you know of another woman who needs this kind of support, please share!

What About Shake Up Learning & Teacher Revival?

Shake Up Learning and Teacher Revival are not going anywhere right now. I have pressed pause on creating content while I build Burnout to Blessed (again, working in obedience).

My plan is to use Shake Up Learning to empower other educators to share and use my platform to highlight others in 2024.

There is some overlap in all three of my endeavors (see Venn diagram above). Teacher Revival in right smack dab in the middle! You’ll be hearing from me here, too!

Thank you for all you do! God bless you on your career journey!

Can I pray for you?
